prime timers’ game night
by mike houston
Remember when:
v
You
had only one rotary dial phone, and the whole family shared it?
v
The
service station attendant used to wipe your car’s windshield and check the air
pressure in the tires?
v
You
utilized the old wooden rocking chair while sitting on the front porch,
possibly reading comic books?
v
First
class mail cost $.03, and a postcard was mailed for $.02?
v
How
‘bout hand cranking the old ice cream freezer while listening to the radio?
If you have
some of those memories, you probably know how to play dominoes, score a game of
42, maybe even bid “no trump” in a game of Bridge. You might also recall that families and
friends got together in those early post-war days to just do those simple
things, along with sharing some down home cooking. Indeed this was a simpler life – before
television, computers, and the cell phone.
An occasional movie might be on the entertainment list, but you did not have
to worry about various censorship ratings.
If you are
reminiscing, or perhaps even cracking a covert smile, why not come out to Game
Night, hosted by the Prime Timers, and participate in some fine Christian
fellowship? Prime Timers’ Game Night
started about eight years ago, and the fun has never stopped!
New
friendships are made, and old ones are rekindled, the hospitality is better
than average, and laughter is sure to abound!
Although comprised mostly of retirees, adults of all ages have joined us
throughout the years for an evening of fun.
Game Night happens every month on the third Thursday at 7:00PM in Room
100 of the Family Center. You are
promised some great home cooking from recipes and cooks known throughout the
fellowship. The next Game Night is
coming up on November 19, so make plans to join us! For more information, contact Mike Houston.
