children’s worship at gcr
by Tim Dobbs
Children are important! They have feelings of joy, pain, laughter, and
tears and they are young for such a short time. Let’s start by bringing
them up in the Lord now!
Just one of the many opportunities we offer
at GCR is Children’s Worship. It takes place each Sunday morning during
the 2nd worship service for 3 to 6 year olds.
They don’t understand baptism for the
remission of sins at this young age, but they learn love, joy, and hope.
By teaching when they are young we will equip these kids with a
strong faith in God, Jesus, and the hope of Heaven. They readily believe
that Jesus loves them and that all little children need and long to be loved.
We reinforce many things, such as learning to
share, to play fair, to not hit people, to put things away, to clean up your
own mess, to not take things that aren’t yours, and to say you’re sorry when
you hurt someone. Children learn the key reason for behaving correctly is
not just to please parents but also to obey God. They are taught to be
quiet and respectful during prayers and Bible lessons.
We are presently developing Godly traits by
teaching the following series:
Ø Daniel
and the Lions - Have a good attitude
Ø Joshua
and the walls of Jericho - Do my best
Ø David
and Jonathan - Love others
Ø Gideon
- God knows me
Ø Abigail - Be
strong
Ø Ruth
- Be kind
Ø Paul’s
trials - Obey God
Ø Great
Supper parable - Celebrate Jesus
Our efforts with children do make a
difference and will pay off now and in the future. If you would like to help with Children’s
Worship, please contact Tim Dobbs.
