Men’s Prayer Breakfast
by Willie Goudeau
“It’s the highlight of my week.”
“It’s the best class of this kind that I have ever
attended.”
“I feel a brotherly love in this setting that has
helped
me through difficult times.”
What are these men talking about? It’s called Men’s
Prayer Breakfast. It’s about a group of
men who meet every Tuesday morning between 6:30AM and 7:30AM to pray, study the
Bible and share Christ with each other. Breakfast normally consists of coffee
and doughnut holes, except on special occasions when a full country breakfast
is cooked by individuals of the group.
We actually start gathering around 6:00AM in room 100 of the family
center, during which time we laugh, roast each other, and enjoy a time of
genuine fellowship.
The assembly starts punctually at 6:30AM by the group
singing our theme song “Knowing You.”
The song is based on Paul’s desire as expressed in Philippians 3:10-11. An individual who has previously agreed leads
the prayer time based on requests both written and oral. After prayer time, which lasts about twenty
minutes, an in depth Bible study takes place. At the present time we are being led by Bob
Judkins through a study of II Corinthians.
Adjournment is promptly at 7:30AM.
Faithful men have been meeting in that setting since
1981. Doug Parsons started this type of
class which has changed very little in format since that time. Many men have been able to share their
weaknesses, addictions, infidelities, needs, family problems, victories and
blessings in a small group gathering without fear of being condemned or
abased. Loads have been lifted,
victories won, and Christ exalted on many occasions. There is a freedom of expression and worship
in our time together. A warm welcome is extended to men of all ages to make
this a part of your Tuesday morning.
