Dear All Parents,

We have just begun our new teaching series, “See-Do.” This Family EnterAction Guide is designed to help you reinforce with your children what is being taught each week during the weekend services.

Each page has a week’s worth of fun ideas and activities you can do as a family.  On each weekly page, you will find the memory verse we are learning for the week.

We suggest that you keep this Family EnterAction Guide on your desk, dresser or on the kitchen table to remind your family to read it each day.

We pray as your children learn more about “See-Do,” they will “Enter into Action” and will begin to apply what they are learning in their daily life!

Week One – Cheerfulness

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

The Israelites had left Egypt and were traveling by foot through some rough and difficult land. They were moving from place to place as God directed them. They eventually came to a place called Rephidim where they set up camp. They soon realized that there was no water for them to drink. This caused them to get very upset with Moses. The Israelites began to grumble and complain and question why Moses would bring them out of Egypt just to die from thirst. Moses cried out to God and asked Him what he should do. The Lord instructed Moses to strike a rock at Mount Sinai with his walking stick. Moses did this while the leaders watched and water flowed freely from the rock. Because of God’s great love, the people had all the water they needed!   (Source: Exodus 17:1-7)

Week Two – Humility

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Naaman was an important leader in the army for the king of Syria. The Lord had helped him win many battles and the king had a lot of respect for him. But Naaman also had leprosy, a horrible skin disease, and there was no cure. One day, his wife’s servant, told her Naaman would be cured if he would go see the prophet Elisha in Samaria. So when Naaman arrived, Elisha sent his servant outside with a message for Naaman. The servant told Naaman to wash seven times in the Jordan River and he would be healed. Naaman was furious!  The prophet Elisha hadn’t even come out in person to talk to him. Besides, he thought the rivers in his own country were better than the muddy little Jordan River in Israel. Naaman’s servants began to talk with him. They told Naaman that if he had been told to do some great thing, he would have done it, so why not try this easy step of washing in the Jordan River?  So Naaman humbled himself and dipped in the Jordan River seven times. After the seventh time, he was healed.     (Source: 2 Kings 5:1-14)

Week Three – Responsibility

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Elisha was meeting with a group of his disciples. The disciples told him the place where they were staying was too small and they needed to build a place for them to live. Elisha agreed to help them. So they went down to the Jordan River to cut down trees. As one of them was chopping, the ax head went flying off and fell into the water. The disciple became very upset because he had borrowed the ax and had no way to replace it. Elisha asked him where it fell. When he showed Elisha the place where the ax head fell into the water, Elisha cut off a piece of wood and then threw the piece of wood into the water. The ax head miraculously floated up to the top of the water! Elisha told the disciple to pick it up and he did.   (Source: 2 Kings 6:1-7)

See-Do

Week Four – Example

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Jesus and His disciples were getting ready to have a special dinner together. The roads were hot and dusty and everyone usually wore sandals. When Jesus and His disciples came to the house for the special meal, their feet were very dirty. They needed to be washed. Usually there was a servant in the house who would wash the feet of each guest. This time Jesus got up, wrapped a towel around His waist, poured water into a large bowl and began to wash the feet of His disciples. Peter felt that he should be washing Jesus’ feet, not Jesus washing his feet. But Jesus asked His disciples, “Do you understand why I am doing this? You call me your teacher and Lord, and you are right, I am. So if your teacher and Lord is washing your feet, you should do the same for others. I am setting an example for you to follow, an example of humbly serving others regardless of how important you think you are. You know these things, don’t you? God will bless you if you do them.”  (Source: John 13:4-5, 12-17 CEV)

TUESDAY

REFLECT as a family on the lesson taught last weekend.  Do something for a family member this week that will serve them in a helpful way. Some ideas are to help prepare a meal, do the dishes, baby sit younger children or wash a car. Write down what you can do.

See-Do

Week Five – Calm

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Jesus went with His disciples in a large boat. Jesus was very tired because He had spoken to many people that day. He decided to take a nap on the boat. Suddenly, a storm developed. The waves and wind were so strong that the boat started to fill with water. Jesus’ disciples were really afraid. The disciples woke Jesus up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?” Jesus spoke to the wind saying, “Quiet! Be still!” Then, immediately the storm stopped and the sea was calm. Jesus asked the disciples, “Why are you so afraid? You surely don’t have much faith.” The disciples looked at one another in amazement. They asked each other, “Who is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!” (Source:  Matthew 8:23-27)

See-Do

Week Six – God’s Power

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, who was the king of Egypt, to ask him to free the Israelites from slavery. They wanted freedom so they could worship God. Pharaoh would not let them go. When Moses and Aaron asked again, Pharaoh accused them of taking the people away from all of their work. As a punishment, Pharaoh made the working conditions even harder for the Israelites. They would not be given any straw for making bricks. They would have to gather their own straw and still be expected to make the same number of bricks each day. The children of Israel continued to remain in slavery. Then God told Moses that He would give freedom to the Israelites so they could leave Egypt. God allowed a series of ten plagues to come upon Egypt. One of the plagues was turning the water of the Nile River into Blood! Moses and Aaron did as the Lord commanded in front of Pharaoh. Aaron stretched his staff over the Nile and all of the water turned into blood. The fish in the Nile died and it smelled so bad that the Egyptians couldn’t drink any water from the river. Pharaoh eventually let the children of Israel go because he saw God’s great power.  (Source: Exodus 5:1-9, 7:14-21)

TUESDAY

REFLECT as a family on the lesson taught last weekend.

Can you find three examples of God’s mighty power from the Bible? What are they?  (Here are some examples: Exodus 13:17-14:31, 1 Samuel 17:1-58, Daniel 3:1-30)

Week Seven – Remember

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Amazing…the Jordan River, just like the Red Sea…parted! This is the second time the children of Israel have seen water part. The Israelites successfully crossed the Jordan River, on dry ground, to enter the Promised Land. When all the people were safely across the river, the Lord told Joshua to choose twelve men, one from each tribe of Israel. Joshua called the men together and gave them these instructions, “Go into the middle of the Jordan, pick up one stone and carry it out on your shoulder. We will use these stones to build a memorial.” So the men did as Joshua told them. They took twelve stones from the middle of the Jordan, one for each tribe, just as the Lord commanded. After building a memorial with the stones Joshua said to the people, “In the future, your children will ask, ‘what do these stones mean?’ Then you can tell them, ‘This is where the Israelites crossed the Jordan River on dry ground.’” He did this to make a memorial for all the people and so that all the nations of the earth would remember the mighty power of the Lord. (Source: Joshua 4:1-8, 20-24)

Week Eight – Believe

MONDAY

READ the Bible story together with your family. Look it up in the Bible!

Jesus and His disciples saw a man who had been born blind. His disciples asked Him, “Teacher, why was this man born blind? Was it his fault or his parents?” Jesus told His disciples that the man’s blindness was not the result of someone doing something wrong, but he was born blind so that God’s power could be seen in this man. Jesus then spit on the ground, made mud, and smoothed the mud over the blind man’s eyes. Jesus told him to go wash in the pool of Siloam. So the man went and washed and came back seeing! The people who had seen him before wondered whether he was really the same man. The man told the people how he had received his sight. The people took the healed man to the Pharisees. The man explained to the Pharisees what had happened. The Pharisees did not believe him until they called in his parents. The parents confirmed that he was their son and that he had been born blind. They didn’t know how their son could now see so they told the Pharisees to ask him themselves. The man told them, “One thing that I know, I was blind and now I see!” Later, Jesus found the man and asked him if he believed in the Son of God. He asked Jesus who this Son of God was so that he could worship him. Jesus responded, “You have seen Him and are speaking to Him.” The man expressed his belief, fell down, and worshipped Jesus.   (Source: John 9:1-25, 35-36)
