My Dear Friends,
I am writing to inform you that there will not be a 2012 SPFC. This decision came with many variables to consider. I can only share with you my personal contribution. We have been blessed to have Single Parent Family Camp for 24 years and I (along with many others) have had the blessing of spending many mountain top experiences with you. I know this may come as sad news for some and that is why I believe it important to communicate with you as to how this decision was reached.
First of all, I have been so richly blessed to work for many years in Singles Ministry. I have experienced God in fantastic ways and witnessed His mighty hand at work several times over. I often tell others, “the healthiest people I know are single adults.” I share this with a sincere heart because time and time again I have seen God bring many people from the ugliest places only to remind us that He loves us just where we are! In truth, you are real and you have been my teachers and mentors.
For a few years now I have personally been struggling on where God was leading me, knowing not to take things into my own hands. God showed up in a powerful way this last December only to inform me that He was not through with me, but would be using me in a different role here the Golf Course Road Church of Christ. My role has changed to GCR Family Minister. I now have the opportunity to help unite and encourage all our ministries to work together as a family. This door that God has opened comes with great excitement for me and my family.
Again, what a wonderful 24 years it has been! I personally have had the joy of celebrating 15 of those years. Because of this, I find it important to be upfront and honest with you. I could have told you that there will be someone to replace me, but there’s not at this time. I could have told you that someone will step up to the plate and lead another year of camp, but there’s not at this time. But, I believe honesty serves us the best. So, it’s true that some good things must come to an end, but who knows what incredible things God has planned for all of us.
I would like to close by saying, “thank you” for your support and the many hours of laughter and love. I pray you have been blessed and I ask God to continue taking YOU just where He wants you to be.
Much love to you and your family,
Burke Brack
GCR Family Minister
