Church Planting
In September 2005 Golf Course Road Church of Christ planted New Life Church in Odessa, Texas 20 miles away. At the launching of New Life the GCR elders declared that we would become a church planting church. As a strategic planning team prayed and listened, Acts 1:8 came into view.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Our dream and vision is to become an Acts 1:8 church. We have identified what our Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria and the ends of the earth are for us and are devising strategies to be witnesses to Jesus Christ in these areas.
Our Church Planting Strategy
This ministry exists to join God in launching a multiplying movement of life-changing Restoration Heritage churches.
(Jerusalem) Mobilizing Golf Course Road and maximizing its God-given resources.
(Judea) Launching and/or strengthen a Faith Community in every
community of 2000 population or greater within 100 miles of Midland by the year 2015.
(Samaria) Partnering with other churches to launch a church planting church in every metropolitan area of 100,000 population or greater in Texas and its adjacent states by the year 2025.
Calling other churches to adopt a vision of church planting.
Combining Planters with Partners and Places
For Golf Course Road, Jerusalem represents the Midland-Odessa area. Judea represents a 100-mile radius around Midland. We are leveraging the resources of our congregation to meet unmet spiritual needs in the rural communities of the Permian Basin. Our Samaria is Texas and the adjacent states. We are partnering with other churches and organizations to plant new churches in metropolitan areas of 100,000 people or more. The ends of the earth represent our foreign missions in South America, Africa, and Asia.

We invite you to ask two questions:
1. What would it look like for your church to become an Acts 1:8 church? We are calling churches to pray and consider the vision to become an Acts 1:8 church. What are your strategies to be witnesses for Jesus Christ in your Jerusalem, your Judea, your Samaria and the ends of the earth?
2. We are looking for church planters and church partners. Is the Holy Spirit prompting you to be part of this effort? If you are interested in exploring this further, if you have any questions, or need additional information, please contact the Golf Course Road Church of Christ.
